USING CURVES

raise the curve = brighten

lower the curve = darken

raise and lower curve = contrast/overlay look

instead of adjusting the curves for just RGB, you can adjust the curves for each of the R, G, and B components. (example below)

USING COLOR BALANCE

just play around with the switches on the midtones/shadows/highlights. have fun :)
