Sunday, November 16, 2008 - Firestorm -

50,000 evacuees. 10,000 acres burned. a firestorm located just in the city next door. DB, Chino, Brea. these are just familiar cities you would drive in and out at any given weekend. and to hear your own friends evacuating from the country and hosing the roof, that's a bit of a shock. even if the fire isn't heading towards walnut (but there is the slightest chance that it can) i think this firestorm has helped me to reflect on what is really important to me.

so what would i bring with me if there was an evacuation? i would bring my external harddrive with all my photos and music, cell phone, digital camera, mp3 player, Bible, coach purse, HP7 (yeah, still haven't finished it. i actually read 2 chapters yesterday before sleeping.), blankie, Erin TY bear. sure! i'll be glad to leave my backpack and all my homework behind.

well, on the bright side, we might not have school tomorrow! whs is a evacuation shelter for the dbar area and there are suffocating ashes and smoke in the air. school's not canceled because there's a blizzard. school is canceled because we have a firestorm. wow, welcome to socal.

anyways, i'm like SOOO in the harry potter mood now cuz the HP6 trailer was AWESOME!!! guess what? the movie was going to come out this friday. but we have to wait another 8 months. JOY.

Wednesday, November 12, 2008 - appeal to pity? -

Silva: Erin, can you please write the words on the board?
Me: I can't. I got an operation on my arm.
Silva: Is that an appeal to pity?
Class: LMAO LOL HAHA ROFL!!!

oh, to those who don't get it...appeal to pity is a logical fallacy in the world of rhetoric. not very good in an argument. but it's true. i did get a procedure done on my underarm. the anesthesia hurt like heck. otherwise i didn't feel anything at all. the doctor person was like, SNIP! did you feel that? (me: no). good. wow, my first actual surgery in my entire life. now i have this annoying gauze and long piece of medical tape on my armpit.

Sunday, October 12, 2008 -

dang, i haven't updated since school started. anyways, NEW LAYOUT!! ft. heroes b/c of the new 3rd season! heroes is so confusing now. every few minutes i'm like HUH?!? everything you think will never happen happens.

last saturday i took my first official SAT Reasoning Test. it was actually pretty easy. i had time to check all sections pretty much. but still some people thought it was hard, even those who took elite. hopefully i did well.

to my surprise, junior year is actually not too bad. i think cuz i'm not taking APUSH. and yes, just that one class is making a HUGE difference. regular history is SOOO easy. i have a perfect grade and i don't even have to try hard. calc is pretty easy, and chem is fun but challenging. the test are all ap level. silva is just same old silva, scary but funny at times. essay prompts are SOOO hard. but i don't regret taking english 3AP. we have less hw than honors. belcher is scary. plus, sometimes i can't tell when he's speaking enligh and spanish cuz it sounds the same. and his outfits are obnoxious (pink button up shirt, a half blue/yellow shirt, that beige/black pajama looking outfit). free period is fun with eric, brenda, and kelly.

hrmmm...i'm getting a surgery in november because i have a lump on my armpit, but it's nothing serious.

i'm like super bored now. hopefully school will be more exciting. oh yeah, JOIN MUSIC CLUB AND INVISIBLE CHILDREN!!!

new art will be posted on my LJ

i just HAD to write about what happened at disneyland on wednesday (third trip this summer). like usual, we went with jennifer and jessica to disneyland. after a couple of rides, we decided to head towards toontown to go on the roger rabbit ride. we walked pass the pinocchio restaurant place and jennifer was like, "hey, doesn't that guy look like ben from Secret Life of the American Teenager"?" "yeah, he kinda does." we stop and stare for a while and we are hesitant to go up to him. we were about to continue on our journey until a girl walked up to him, got his autograph and a picture. at that moment we were ecstatic. we ran up to him, handed the camera to justin, and jennifer asked if we could have a picture with him. he was like "sure! of course!" he put one hand on jennifer's shoulder and another on mine with kristen sandwiched between us. jennifer was like "we like your show!" kenny baumann (ben) said "great! keep watching!" and for the rest of the day, we kept conscious, on the look out for kenny baumann, completely flabbergasted.

about the rides, splash mountain was revamped. after we splashed down the mountain, i expected it to be the end. but NOOOO. they had like a huge wave coming up from the front and the sides. we were DRENCHED!!! later in the day, we went on astro orbiters. yup, you may think it's one of those stupid kiddy rides, but it's actually one of the scariest rides at disneyland. i sat with jennifer and we were going up and down. and if you haven't noticed, the ship is actually tilted outside from the start. so if you go all the way up, you tilt in, all the way down, you tilt outward. we were screaming our lungs out. OMG OMG OMG breathe breathe. then i just find the middle point so we will fly straight. never underestimate the kiddy rides.

darn, school tomorrow. i feel like i haven't done anything this summer but read and study with the occasional disneyland and the one wedding in july. i'm not looking forward to junior year ><

oops, sorry for not updating in a while. elite was killing me. but it's FINALLY OVER!!! except i still have to continue elite on saturdays during september so i won't forget what i learned. today we played jeopardy in writing class with categories such as crappy music (with questions such as miley cyrus and the jobros), randomness, and rapbonics (defining the term of slang words in rap). we played the taboo that i brought in math class, and i was awarded the student of the summer in my class as nominated by my teachers (i got an itunes giftcard. then in critical reading, we just chilled and talked about mandarin/cantonese/korean phrases. and that's about it for elite after taking group pictures.

anyways, i just want to recap on what happened the past month...

brendan came to sleepover for a week and we watched dark knight and went to disneyland. kris and i kept cringing in batman. everytime the joker said "do you know why i have these scars" or "you sound just like my father" or "why so serious?" i don't think dark knight was as good as everyone said it was, but it sure was intense the whole time. basically at disneyland, there was not that many ppl. it was 30 minutes max for waiting. we doubled and tripled on rides. on space mountain, the ride broke down in the middle and the lights turned on. we were like WOAHHHh!!! and then you could see the track and everything. the workers came and pushed our car and we finished the ride with the lights on. it was AWESOME!!!

I AM IN LOVE WITH THE OLYMPICS!!!! i absolutely love swimming and gymnastics. swimming = cheering GO GO GO GO PHELPS PHELPS USA USA USA!!! OMG LEZAK!!! ; gymnastics = disappointing team final with sacramone. feeling the gymnasts pressure in the AA finals. GO NASTIA AND SHAWN!!! GOLD AND SILVER!!!

memorable moments

one more full week before school starts >< i didn't even finish one book yet.

new icons/blend (avatar):

WHOOPEE!!!~~ finally, i had a chance to make a new layout. just spent yesterday night and today making it. i am totally in love with the chemistry between katara and zuko in avatar. when i was watching the season finale, i kept saying "AWWW..." too bad zuko goes back with his girlfriend, and katara goes with little boy aang.
well, this friday is registration. i really want Lim. and it'll be close to having chemistry all over again with the same friends as last year.
OH! also, i got a 1990 on my SAT on monday, with a 10 for my essay. it's still low compared to some of you geniuses out there (*cough denise *cough). but it's my highest score so far. elite better continue giving out easy tests like that one.
i feel like this summer is not any different than the school year. i actually sleep later than the time i sleep during the school year, averaging 12:00 every night as compared to 11/11:30 ish. elite's articles for critical reading are too superfluous (ooh, vocab word HAHA). i mean, 5 pages is good enough to improve our reading comprehension, but 12 pages! or 18 pages! that's just having sleep deprivation and i'm not getting enough time to do my summer reading. i'm only on page 200 in yellow raft in blue water and i still have 2 other books to read. so now my weekend is deprived of free time since i have to do summer reading.
anyways, on the bright side. my cousin brendan, who already came over for esmond and jenny's wedding, is coming again from san jose to play with us. he complained that he didn't get to play with us enough last time. soooo...uncle david is driving him down, then we're watching dark knight and going to disneyland, and uncle david is gonna drive back up, leaving brendan to stay for a week, and will drive back down to pick him up. he's so spoiled ><

Saturday, July 19, 2008 -

last weekend (July 12) was esmond goh goh and jenny's wedding. 8 of our cousins on my dad's side came (mostly either from san jose or toronto). the ceremony began with kris and justin lighting up the candles. then the parents, bridesmaids, and groom's men came out. then it was my turn to go up on the podium and read from 1 John 4:7-12. at first i was sooo scared cuz there was like 200 people in the audience. but i spoke calmly and everything was all right. when esmond and jenny came to hug the parents, i started to cry. and throughout the ceremony i would be crying. the day before, marianne said that i would be the last one to cry...umm..apparently not HAHA.
after the wedding, we took family pics and headed to the Westin in Long Beach for the banquet. instead of clanging the glass cups to make the couple kiss, the DJ made the "Kissing Game." people would have to go up on the dance floor and sing a phrase from a song that had the word "love." sumsum, ashley, rachel, kristen, justin, and i sang the Barney song ("I love you, you love me...."). yeah, that was interesting. i've never done anything like that before. anyways, there was also this game called the "Shoe Game" which marianne and debbie (jenny's sister) made up. the parents and the bride and groom played this. they had to answer a series of questions by raising either their own or their spouse's shoe to see who would be the better something. the women won for best candidate as president :)
i cried when my mom was dancing with esmond goh goh cuz she was crying herself. i cried when daddy finished giving his speech cuz he cried after. i cried when goh goh gave his mini-speech and said how he wanted to be a good dad just like our dad. it was sooo touching. :'(
for the next few days, we hung out with the cousins. we played mafia, risk, various card games, went to the beach, and the rest of them except i went to universal studios. wednesday was the farewell dinner, and it was so fun listening to bryan memorize lines from russell peters. and caius (from toronto) was saying how he went to pacific mall and went to a game store to buy games. he was asking for a discount since he was buying 2, but the storekeeper said, "(with chinese accent) I give you discount, tomorrow you come back I CLOSE DOWN!!!" sound familiar? LOL

I MISS ALL OF YOU COUSINS :'(

oh yeah, i just finished watching avatar: sozin's comet. it was AWESOME :) but zuko and katara are a better couple. aang should just remain single.

BE PREPARED. THERE'S AN ESSAY COMING UP HAHA. IT'S SUPER LONG

AHHH!! i've been dying to write something on my blog for days. i haven't gotten the chance to, cuz of all this elite work. but the past july 4th weekend was homework free.

on the 4th, elite was actually pretty fun. the teachers knew how much we didn't like to be here. sOOOoooo...during writing class, we turned our practice exercise into a game. boys vs. girls (apparently, there were 3 boys and actually one of them was the scorekeeper vs. 10 girls). the girls were called the estrogenias and the boys were the testosterones (ehh something like that). we totally pwned the boys 3 to .25 or something (yeah we get penalized for wrong answers). in math, we were trying to urge joseph to have us play a math game. but instead we just reviewed our homework cuz we always ask like 30 -ish questions. at the end, joseph showed us a question that he thought was hard that was going to be on the math quiz on wednesday (yeah i got it!). ok now for critical reading class...took the vocab test then reviewed for the quiz on the 10-page article we read for homework (wasted 2 hours of my life reading that). i was sure i got like a 2/5 on my quiz and would get detention after. phoebe told us to get our minds off, so we reviewed for homework. then we urged phoebe to have us play a vocab game. again, boys vs. girls. but TABOO STYLE!!! not really. phoebe whispered a vocab word and we had to say the def to our team and they had to guess the word. again, the girls pwned :) when class was almost over, the assistant director came in and told us that nobody was going to detention b/c they were being nice since it was july 4th!!! we were all screaming and stuff. after elite, samantha was telling min and me that our class was soooo loud. HAHA. oh well, it was a fun day.

when i went home, sum sum and ashley came like a minute after i came back. we ate at thai food, then came back home, and kris and i had to try umpteen clothes (won't mention what). after what seemed like hours, we saw the 700+ pictures that they took on their japan/hk trip. then we played monopoly, and sum sum and i were like losing so badly. i got down to a little over a hundred dollars with 3 properties. so we combined our property and money. after dinner and frozen yogurt from berri yogurt, we continued monopoly for another 3 or 4 hours. with luck, sum and i managed to get $7,108 by the end of the game (got about $1000 from free parking - yeah, we make up tons of additional bonuses in monopoly). sooo, in the longrun, if we divided our money in half, we would have still beaten kris, justin, and ashley. after monopoly, sum sum and ashley reenacted something that happened on their trip in hk. sum sum was sitting in the mtr and she didn't feel well. a well-dressed man who was sitting next to her was sweating and stuff. he looked at sum and he laughed like it was part of an evil plan. sum coughed from the terrible BO. then the man put his hands on his lap with his arms wide open like chicken wings, and started flapping them. sum sum coughed some more like she was gonna die or something. and the man continues laughing. HAHA, that was funny, yet sad. the rest of the weekend was pretty much playing brawl and watching tv and playing random games with the cousins.

yesterday, kris and i went to brea mall to try out makeup/foundation cuz the wedding is this saturday. makeup feels sooo weird. the person who did it on me put like eyeliner, curled my eyelashes, put masacara, and lipgloss. i've never looked so facially flamboyant in my life. i'm gonna go light on the makeup on saturday, hopefully i can do it myself, with kris' help. ok, gotta do elite homework. ahh can't wait for this weekend.

Monday, June 30, 2008 -

yesterday was kristen and justin's 15th birthday! we actually celebrated at jennifer and jessica's house on saturday. first we played a little brawl. then we played monopoly for like 3+ hours and ate popcorn. i had a record-breaking 5 times in jail HAHA. but at one point i was able to get $4000+. i even got a hotel at st. charles place :) we had pizza hut for dinner and made fun of camp rock (sorry catherine and michelle). uncle norman took out wii fit and "advertised" to my parents about what it is. now that is true exercise, not wii sports. i took a body test (test balance and reflex), and it said my age was 17. justin's age was like 27 HAHA. ok, i suck at hula hooping. i got around 100 or less. jessica can get like 327. CRAZY!!!
ok on the actual birthday, we went to cheesecake factory for dinner. at the end, we ate cheesecake! i got key lime cheesecake while kris and justin shared a tuxedo. at around 11:30pm, the twins blew a candle that was on a post-it cuz they didn't get a chance to blow one with the cake.

Tuesday, June 24, 2008 -

oh boy. SAT prep @ elite is torture. but mindy, vicky, rebecca, annabelle, and cindy (yeahh all WHS sophs) are in my class. yesterday we took a test, sitting in the chair for 3.5 hours with just a 5 minute break between section 5 and 6. i totally bombed it (yeah, seriously...i got a terrible score. like over 200 points less than my first score, which was already bad).
when i got back home, marianne jeje came, and marianne, kris, and i made a money box for esmond and jenny's wedding. it's in a shape of a cake. we had to wrap the box with white cloth, and that took soooo long. so we covered up our messy parts with flowers (as kris would say, "anteriorly decorated". yeah don't look at the back). i made a company logo (sister lee love co. - professional money box makers) and a barcode and price sticker ($99.99), oh and also a "SALE" and "THIS ITEM IS NOT RETURNABLE" sticker. we dropped the first note for esmond/jenny into the box (saying we are sorry, we tried).

ok, elite totally bombarded us with work. a practice test review packet, 50 vocab words per day (oh and a silva-style vocab test everyday), reading/taking notes on a 7-page article (quiz the next day), and probably loads more of homework coming the next few days. it'll be a long summer ><

2 blends, 2 HP icons, 10 narnia icons

yesterday, we went to disneyland with jennifer and jessica. i feel like we haven't bonded in a while. we sure had a good time :)

expecting there to not be that many people (b/c people were still at school and there would be a lakers game that day), we were apparently wrong. there were students on their end-of-the-year field trips. elementary school kids. omg, they must be rich schools. when we were in line, they were like "i don't' want to go to school tomorrow." in our minds, we were like, "HAHA. we don't have school tomorrow, or the next day, or the next day, or the week after that, or the week after that, the month after that, etc." fastpasses totally saved our butts. there was a looonnnnggg line just to get fastpasses for splash mt. probably a trailing fourty people behind us. plus the machine for that was super slow. had to wait for like 15 seconds for each pass to come out. ate at pizza port for lunch, after going on one ride during that whole morning (tea cups). ventured off and enjoyed our day, telling ppl to go back to school and watch the lakers game (not really). when we went to frontierland, we heard "high noon." one of those retarded country songs we played in orchestra. unfortunately, we didn't go on indiana jones, cuz the wait was like an hour or more. sooo...we bumped into the entrance of the indy show with a boulder. dang, that was the funnest part so far. taking pictures with that boulder (pics on facebook). OH, forgot to mention. i saw adrienne kimm at disneyland. wasn't entirely sure if it was her. but i was like "HEY ADRIENNE!!!" oh yeah, she was in my sat2 class last saturday. ventured off on more rides, ate gumbo for dinner. enjoyed the "mandalay bay" smell at the pirates ride and screaming out loud ("GO LAKERS"). watched the fireworks. headed out the park. went to the disney store at downtown disney to hunt down some narnia stuff. seriously, we searched everywhere until we reached the end of the store. found some books and stupid looking toy figures that looked nothing like the characters. stepped out of the store. i turn to the right. i scream AHHHHH!!! right before my eyes is a towering poster of theprince caspian movie!!!! took pics (now profile pic). yeah, we were totally fanatic over narnia and prince caspian. it was sooo funny :D

hope everyone's summer is great so far.

today didn't feel like the last day of school. what kind of last day is made up of the hardest finals ever. math. pretty confident that i did well, but i NEED to do well. i have a 90.9% in that class. it was soo sad to leave math. i loved that class. all those memories. DONUTS!!! mrs. geery said we could visit next year and get donuts HAHA. english. silva's essay was just EVIL. it was about why people should read classics. we had to include 6 rhetorical devices, 10/15 vocab rules, and use/label the 7 comma rules. that was total BS. after silva's class (end of school), we shook hands with him on our way out the door. tofu gave him her left hand. HAHA. after, i went to check my chem grade. a boomin 12 points curved on our final. wow. 97 went to 95 after uncurved final, and now back to 97. yay! that final was scary. period 1's grades were basically Bs overall. then christina and i went to puzo's room to say our last goodbyes. she was wearing the renaissance shirt that we gave her (also gave her a napoleon in war paint). looks so good on her. i told her to torture next year's AP students. haha, kris and justin will be there. MUAHAHA. good luck incoming EUROAPERS :)

the year in brief
PE: racquet sports BABY! pwning in badminton with caressa. good/bad luck days. best was 5 games in a row at king's court. rivals: vicky and carina. water buddies: geraldine and kathie. nicknamed me eragon o.O
MathAnal: DONUTS!!!! loudest and largest of geery's classes. never gets anything done. geery threatening us with quizzes then says JUST KIDDING!!! the oh so awesome super smash brawl poster!!
Chem: avian's toasted orange gloves on the hot plate :P cold fingers in ice cream lab. rock hard rice krispies. i found out ms. yu was canto.
English: evil, yet funny, SILVA!! learned to analyze in depth and write better. cursed vocab tests.
Lunch: BIG 2!!! after that one day where i won all games, i lost all games.
EURO AP: hardest class ever. boring, long lectures. red-marked essays. crying over DBQ. the many wives of Henry VIII. the SCHMALKALDIC LEAGUE!! finally got 5 on final DBQ and A on imperialism essay.
Spanish: mucho diversion en la clase de espanol :) 99% math and chem discussions. pushing my grades in daniel's face. having fun with vicky.
Orchestra: eww clements. waste of time. talks a lot. bad conductor. we're only good because we can play, not because he's a good teacher. bad western music. too old to give us good music.

it seems like the more stress we have, the closer we get together. i think i've bonded with my friends more than ever before. made lots of new friends and study buddies. thanks for all the memories :)

Wilds :( hopefully i'll get her next year. 1.5 more days of school! and garrett keeps sending me the funniest brawl videos LOL.

got this from my cousin. enjoy!

9 WORDS WOMEN USE

(1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument whe n they are right and you need to shut up.
(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
(3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!
(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)
(6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
(7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says "Thanks a lot" - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say "you're welcome" ... that will bring on a "whatever").
(8) Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying *bleep* you ((edited to make it cleaner))
(9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "What's wrong?" For the woman's response refer to # 3.

Thursday, May 29, 2008 -

there was an orchestra banquet last friday and we got to take balloons home. the next day, they were deflated. so kris and i cut off the string and since then, we've been having balloon fights. it's been pretty fun. good exercise HAHA. running around the teen room. kristen turns around to read A Tale of Two Cities, i slam two balloons on her head. she grabs them and slams them on me. ok that was pretty random. felt like i had to blog something and i haven't done that in a while since this site opened.

YAY. NO MORE 7TH PERIOD!!! won't be seeing clements until the fall. BOOYAH!!!
ok, i'm worried about math and english finals. my chem speech barely reaches the minimum. plus, i need to study for SAT2 World History. so screwed >< omg, i sacrificed going to the paul frank warehouse sale to study. that sucks. hrmm...i'm thinking i should go watch narnia soon. anyone up for it?

Sunday, May 18, 2008 -

WEEEE!!! finally, my own domain. ok i have to transfer all my stuff from my other site.
